This makes sense from an SEO perspective as well as from the perspective of what your readers will see when they visit your site. Consider that when you visit a blog, each post is usually listed in date order. If the viewer comes in looking for information on mixers, a subsequent post about lawn mowers is likely to have them searching for another site.

If you are interested in using a blog in conjunction with affiliate marketing, or pay-per-click advertising, you will need to have a well defined and narrow focus for your blog. Aside from making it easier for the search engines to categorize your site, it will also help your readers establish some expectation of what content will appear in the blog. As a result, your blog can become a useful resource. This, in turn, may result in ads placed in the blog appearing more creditable than ones placed in a location that is too unfocused in content.
